Debijenkorf
OUR HOUSE OUR HOME
All the 'our house our home' pieces are responses to De bijenkorf’s architecture and the work seen at the Bauhaus exhibition during the room on the roof residency programme at the Amsterdam store. The spaces and objects encountered on the field trip are collaged and re-imagined to create new domestic objects that celebrate these inspirations and a shared visual language with the Bauhaus.

OUR HOUSE OUR HOME - THE HAGUE
The idea to create a series of three of mobiles came initially though exploring the stained glass sections in the stairwell of the Den Haag De Bijenkorf store. Adopting fragments, forms and similar materials from the windows themselves and re-imagining them into new playful structures. The mobile Forms also take inspiration from the drawings of Oskar Schlemmer and the spirit of his production, the triadic ballet.

OUR HOUSE OUR HOME - ROTTERDAM
The Trappenhuis rug takes a similar relief form to my architectural wooden assemblages but further explores materiality. The piece is both informed by the architectural stairwell of the Rotterdam De bijenkorf store designed by Marcel Breuer and celebrates the textile work of Gunta Stölzl. The outcome is a domestic object that has exchanges with the past but is rooted in the present.
